As parents, we teach our children right from wrong and to always be respectful to people of authority. We plead for them to go to a police officer or anyone in uniform if they are EVER in trouble or if they EVER need any form of immediate help. We tell them to put trust in these people while, at the same time, our children are putting THEIR trust in us. Every single man and woman in uniform who serves this country serves to help those in need, when needed, ESPECIALLY children. This is why this video is so shocking and horrifying to us.
The two-minute video shows Jennifer Williamson’s son, Aaron, standing in a security area at DFW airport. It’s not easy to watch. The agent begins patting down the boy’s arms, back and torso before moving to the back of his shorts and the insides of his legs…more than once…and proceeds to put the young child through a humiliating and uncomfortable experience.
As a father of two, I’m not going to lie, I would have stepped in after the first inside leg search and demanded to see the supervisor and, had they not helped, I’d have taken my child out of that situation and left the premises. But I wasn’t in that situation and I can’t imagine what it was like for the parents to be forced to watch it happening.
No adult should ever touch a child like the man does in the video UNLESS it was a legitimate supervised police search and in private. Shame on the TSA for defending this and shame on those who let it go on. These are our children and they trust you.
Let us know how you feel about this. Is it an overstep of boundaries? Is it wrong for an adult to do such an intrusive search of a child? Or is it the new normal in a world where we just don’t know who is a threat to our nation?
